David supported Melville Housing Association by covering the maternity leave for one of our senior management staff members from January 2023 to January 2024.
David is a very efficient well experienced finance expert, and no task was beyond his skills.
Although David had never worked for a Registered Social landlord, he quickly understood the regulatory requirements, made all the financial regulatory returns timeously, attended and reported on financial matters to the Board throughout the year and supported the review of our 30-year financial plans.
David’s analytical skills alongside his financial skills were a great support for us.

David helped Edinburgh Printmakers out when our finance team changed last year. I have known David Dewhurst for many years but recently I had to call on his professional skill to help with a charity in Juniper Green. The small charity, Pentlands Community Space, had the task of replacing an abandoned public toilet and converting it into a community hub. The work involved a near total demolition of the original building to provide a community space for meetings, classes and small exhibitions. In addition, an affordable flat was constructed above the common space. To achieve all of this the charity were advised to establish a company to oversee the work and Pentlands Regeneration Limited was set up to do this. What the charity needed was someone who was familiar with both the idiosyncrasies of VAT and corporation tax. So, the charity turned to David and without hesitation, and completely voluntarily, David took on the role of advisor to PRL. He worked tirelessly on the issues over a couple of years and now that we have the building up and running we owe David a great debt of gratitude. I have no hesitation in recommending him for financial advice as he brings the highest level of professionalism to his work.
